Videogames Still Given The Cold Shoulder

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

After reading an article on shoutwire.com titled The Stigma of Gaming I had to write my thoughts down, and have to deeply agree with the article that videogames are still shunned and frowned upon by many, even though it is supposedly “socially accepted” it still gets the cold shoulder, and I actually have a few friends that think gaming is a waste of time and that it’s a kiddy thing, but I just laugh and shrug it off because I know it’s neither of those, it takes some fairly good hand and eye coordination, and some games really require you to use your brain to make progress or to win, now can you say the same thing for all of the half baked reality shows, and bad movies lately? I didn’t think so, now I’m not saying videogames are outright better, see if I did that then I’d be stooping to the level they think gaming is…Kiddy, and there are occasionaly some good shows and movies to watch, but what I am saying is that Videogames have become a Late Night Show and Movies for some people lately, and I’m one of those people! I rarely if ever watch live tv or movies anymore, I either wait until my favorite shows or movies are recorded on my TiVo or come out on dvd now, so I can watch them when I’m extremely bored which is rarely anymore, because gaming can be really entertaining and interactive, it’s not just sitting alone in front of a tv or computer screen playing yourself against the computer anymore, you have all of the online aspects, the communication between people all around the globe, whether it’s sending a text message to someone, talking to them through voice chat, or sending a group of people on your friend list an invite to play the same game together, it’s socially interactive and entertaining, and in my humble opinion beats the hell out of clicking a remote and vegging out, anyways these are just my thoughts and opinions I hope you either liked them or completely hated them, leave some comments and let me know!

DS Lite (Part 1)

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

I pre-ordered my DS Lite in February but they’ve been so popular over in Hong Kong they’ve been sold out every shipment, but now they FINALLY got some in stock, and my long awaited imported Nintendo DS Lite is finally here from Lik-Sang.com! Yep I said that right all the way from Hong Kong! I love getting things from different countries it’s pretty exciting, anyways I actually got it in a few days ago through UPS but I wanted some ample time with it before I posted or said anything about it. Everything was packaged nicely by the way nothing damaged or tampered with, thank you lik-sang! And after getting through the UPS packaging and the little popcorn thingies, I was really excited when opening the DS Lite box up, even the retail box the DS Lite came in was smaller and better looking, and Lik-Sang also sent some nice thorough instructions on how to switch the language over to english, because the DS Lite is all in Japanese when you first turn it on, so I followed there instructions got it all setup to display english very easily, then I set my DS up with my settings, and put in one of my games…fast forward a few days and now that I have had some time with it, I have to say this thing rocks! It’s better looking in my opinion, it’s much smaller, the screens are much clearer, give out a better color, and by far brighter, and I’m not saying the first gen DS’s are bad by any means they’re both fun, but if you have the chance to get a DS Lite…GET ONE! And now that I have my own I can stop waiting for my nephew to get done with his DS :P Anywho I’ll post pics of the DS Lite, accessories and games I got with it later on, watch for Part 2!

XBL Diamond Card Teh Pwned

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

While reading the news today I came across something pretty funny and shocking, It seems that the Xbox Live Diamond cards have a typo on them, instead of saying “Valid Thru” on the Xbox Live Diamond Cards it says “Valid Trhu” and while I recieved my Xbox Live Diamond card last week I failed to notice this glaring typo right in front of my very own eyes!

Quote From joystiq.com:

XBL Diamond Card

Xbox 360: $400

Lots of peripherals and some games: $300

Xbox Live service: $50 per year

Whipping out your Xbox Live Diamond Card on a hot date (”I got it babe. I get a discount on full meal deals on Tuesdays!”) only to have the McDonald’s employee behind the counter point out a typo? Priceless.

It’s no big problem to me really as I will probably never use the card, but it makes you wonder who’s gonna get the chop from the Microsoft payroll. Ouch!

Back To Normal

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

Well spring break is over for my neices and they’re back home now as of yesterday, it was really good to have them visit as usual, they’re always fun to be around, oh And it was my nephew Clinton’s and his best friend Tom’s birthday a few days ago, so our family had a nice birthday dinner for them and they had 2 really good cakes my sister made, and it was good to see all the fatheads together ;) kind of a busy week I guess compared to my normal stuff haha but it was great all together.

And since things are back to normal I been working on my webpages again, I made some new themes for this site and renamed a few of them, well I actually been working them the past week whenever I had time, but now I can fully get back to them, anyways I renamed the X5 Barcode theme to just Barcode and there’s now 2 versions of it called Barcode [Dark] and Barcode [Light], and theres now a Halo 2, Need For Speed Most Wanted, and a Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter theme…oh how I love thee Photoshop :) There’s a few of them that need tweaking yet, but you can take a look at them in the theme selector, hope you like and I’ll be making more of them so check back!
